The New York Times is saying the same thing I have been telling everyone for a long time. TiVo plans today to begin selling information about the viewing patterns of its customers to advertisers and programmers. TiVo currently logs every keystroke or button press. If you enable backdoors on your TiVo and press one of the clear-enter-clear codes, you will see the log files on your TiVo. I was just showing this to one of my friends the other day. Like I always say "more security=less convenience, more convenience=less privacy, more convenience=less security". Of course they were going to sell your data. You want privacy, stop using your TiVo.
